Cleveland Clinic Partners with CVSR On Bike Aboard! Program
Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad announced today that Cleveland Clinic will sponsor the popular Bike Aboard! Program as part of its Let’s Move It® initiative that connects residents with the resources, programs and organizations that will empower them to transform their lives and communities through academic achievement, career preparedness, partnership opportunities, collaboration, advocacy, wellness and preventive healthcare.
Bike Aboard!, one of CVSR’s hallmark programs, encourages Cuyahoga Valley National Park visitors to bike, hike or run the Towpath Trail in one direction and then ride the train back to their point of origin. More than 22,000 passengers participated in this program in 2017.
“Cleveland Clinic is one of the largest and most respected hospitals in the world,” said CVSR President & CEO Joe Mazur. “We’re thrilled to partner with them on one of our signature programs. Bike Aboard! is a creative and family-affordable use of existing resources (trains, trails, towpath and bicycles) in a way which is designed to promote healthy lifestyles, protect the environment and stimulate access to the Ohio and Erie National Heritage Corridor,” said Mazur.
As part of the partnership, Bike Aboard! riders, CVSR members and volunteers will receive a LifeStyles fitness pass which are located in Cleveland Clinic Akron General Health and Wellness Centers. In addition, Cleveland Clinic employees can purchase discounted Bike Aboard! passes for $3/each (regular price is $5/each) by showing their employee badge at any of CVSR’s boarding locations.
“We are excited to sponsor the Bike Aboard! program and keep that train rolling through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park,” said Brian Harte, MD, President of Cleveland Clinic Akron General. “My family has enjoyed Bike Aboard! many times. It’s a great way to explore all the areas the park has to offer and helps promotes recreation and wellness.”
