For more than 50 years, the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad has captured the hearts and minds of tens of thousands of people – of all ages! When people hear the whistle in the Valley, they know what we know – the CVSR experience is more than just a train ride!
Making a Community Impact
The CVSR is proud to offer unique rail experiences, on-board historic trains that are appealing to guests of all generations and ages- that make a difference in the community!
North Pole Adventure Community Train (Sponsored by Key Bank) More than 1,000 guests received complimentary tickets to ride on North Pole Adventure. Organizations impacted include: A Special Wish, Summit County Juvenile Court, Battered Women’s Shelter, Akron Children’s Hospital, Embrace, Cleveland Clinic Hospital for Rehabilitation Autism School, Kelly’s Grief Care Place, Boys and Girls Club, Cornerstone of Hope, Akron Urban League, Haven of Rest, Summit DD, Stark DD, St. Mary’s Elementary, ACCESS.
Veteran’s Train – Complimentary train ride to veterans and their family members in November each year to honor Veteran’s Day. Veterans, active military, first responders and family members take a one-hour complimentary train ride through Cuyahoga Valley National #s Support provided by VFW Post #349.
Educational Programming – in America’s largest classrooms – the National Parks! – More than 8,000 students annually have participated in the unique opportunity to travel through the CVNP’s dynamic learning environment to learn about local wildlife, the Cuyahoga Valley, the history of transportation, the struggles and triumphs of the Underground Railroad, and other topics. Curriculum is tied to Ohio Learning Standards. CVSR strives to ensure that finances are not a barrier to participation for students in financially constrained districts. More than ¼ of the students representing 24 different school districts and organizations received financial assistance.
While CVSR does not fulfill individual donation requests, we are proud to make a community impact.
