Craig Schneider Named 2017 Volunteer of the Year
Congratulations to Craig Schneider, Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad’s 2017 Volunteer of the Year! Craig has been a CVSR volunteer since October 2010. In 2017, he surpassed 8,000 hours of volunteer service; 1,303 of those hours were recorded in 2017. Craig was voted 2017 Volunteer of the Year by a committee of his peers. Each year, this committee elects one individual that has gone above and beyond in service to the railroad.
Craig volunteers every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Fitzwater Maintenance Yard – eight hours each day! He is a mentor to fellow volunteers by managing projects and showing them how to work safely. Craig has been integral in the preparation of the fleet for the upcoming season. Craig leads a dedicated group of volunteers at Fitzwater that does everything from locomotive repair to passenger car interior work. Recent projects that were accomplished through Craig’s leadership were building cabinets in the concession cars to better display merchandise, reupholstering the seats in the #164 and configuring the #169 to be utilized as a Bike Aboard! car. Craig’s dependability and attention to detail allow the operations team to concentrate on providing a safe experience to our passengers.
Thank you, Craig, for your commitment to safety and your commitment to CVSR!
