“Read Aboard” Offers Unique Experience for Families
Summer Read Aboard Program
This summer CVSR is pleased to offer our Read Aboard program, which seeks to connect children ages 3-7 and their caregivers to Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s cultural and natural heritage while also encouraging enthusiasm for trains and reading.
Passengers will enjoy storytime, participate in a creative hands-on art activity, search for wildlife through the train’s windows and listen to stories from the volunteers on board about the Cuyahoga Valley’s history, points of interest and more. A small snack and juice will be served.
Our Partners
CVSR is partnering with a variety of organizations, including Cleveland Public Library, Nordonia Hills Library, Peninsula Library and The Learned Owl.
This program is supported in part by the residents of Cuyahoga County through a public grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture. In reviewing CVSR’s application, a panelist from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture wrote that the program is “a creative approach that contributes to the cultural vibrancy of the community.”
Read Aboard is offered every Thursday from June 1 through August 10. Departures are from Rockside Station at 9am, returning at 12:30pm and from Akron Northside Station at 10:55am, returning at 2:30pm. Tickets are $9 for adults and $7 for children (ages 3- 12).
