Scenic railroad to increase number of special excursions out of Akron in 2020

Akron Beacon Journal | Craig Webb, December 20

Akron will become a familiar stop in 2020 for the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad.

The tourist train plans to more than double its number of departures of so-called special excursion runs out of Akron next year.

The growing popularity and demand has prompted the additional runs from the city’s Northside Station on Ridge Street.

This will mark the first time the railroad has offered the Dinner on the Train excursions from the city.

There will be one departure a month between February and August where passengers enjoy food, drinks and the sights of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

There will be seven dinner trains departing from Akron along with several special event excursions including a Murder Mystery, Grape Escape and Ales on Rails.
