Thank You Lehner Family Foundation
Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad recently received a $5,000 grant from the Lehner Family Foundation in support of its “Powering Ahead” Capital Campaign. CVSR is the midst of a first-ever capital campaign in support of a master plan to expand, enhance and preserve its fleet.
The Lehner Family Foundation dates back to 1951 and the founding of the Lehner Screw Machine Company in Munroe Falls, when Otto and Marie Lehner created their own family business. Although the last Lehner Screw Machine Company founder has passed on, The Lehner Family Foundation and the
management of Lehner Screw Machine Company are dedicated to the Lehner name and continue to strive for excellence for their customers and employees. The success of the company is credited to the founding Lehner family and their knowledge, ability, and insight of the screw machine industry.
Established in 1990 by Charlie and Jane Lehner, The Lehner Family Foundation began to make distributions after Charlie Lehner’s passing when Jane chose to decline all of the inherited assets from her brother and instead pass them directly into the Foundation. As no family members remain, their legacy continues through the giving of C. Gordon Ewers as a manager of The Lehner Family Foundation.
The grant will be used to support the rewiring of Dining Car 2914 to provide sufficient electrical support for needed upgrades to the car including mechanical upgrades, freeze protection, installation of new HVAC system, and the new restroom.
CVSR would like to thank The Lehner Family Foundation for their continued support of CVSR and its mission to provide educational, recreational and heritage railroad experiences and to provide alternative transportation to and within Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the Ohio & Erie Canalway.
