Up Close and Personal with Steam Locomotive No. 765
Nickel Plate Road Steam Locomotive No. 765 is a historic locomotive that once a year makes its way to the Cuyahoga Valley. Steam in the Valley is possible, thanks to our partners at Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society. This year Steam in the Valley will take place from May 13 – 15 and 20 – 22. This full-sized, superpowered steam locomotive is a sight to see; we want you to experience the magnitude up close.

We have designed two weekends that give you a first-hand experience and an opportunity to capture that perfect photo to remember No. 765!
To kick off Steam in the Valley, there will be an evening ride along with an exclusive photoshoot opportunity to get a photo with No. 765. Being under the night sky gives a magical touch to this historic train ride and even better photos!
On the nighttime excursion, passengers will ride behind this locomotive on a three–and–a–half–hour trip. Upon arriving at Akron Northside Station halfway through the ride, guests will deboard the train while the locomotive is stationary.
While the train is parked, and with some added professional lighting, passengers will have the opportunity to take a photograph with Locomotive No. 765! The only thing you’ll have to worry about is not to blink; we have everything else covered. Say cheese!

Throughout Steam in the Valley, we will have rides available on Saturdays and Sundays. It isn’t every day that you get to ride a train powered by a historic steam locomotive. To add to the experience, passengers will have the option to deboard and watch Locomotive No. 765 run by at speed!
This excursion departs from Rockside Station on Saturday, May 14 and 21, and from Akron-Northside Station on Sunday, May 15 and 22.
We are looking forward to another visit from Locomotive No. 765! Make sure to follow us on social media and sign up for our newsletter to stay up to date on all things CVSR.
