CVSR Introduces Summer Read Aboard Program
Thousands of studies illustrate the impact of reading skills on children’s lives. There are just as many studies that show children who visit parks appreciate nature and tend to live healthier lifestyles*.
Raising readers isn’t easy. Some kids need a little extra effort, usually something creative. If you are looking for a fun, interactive way to help you kids become readers, we may have the solution. Beginning Thursday, June 9, CVSR will offer new program called “Read Aboard” for children (ages 3-7), and will run every Thursday through August 11, 2016. The program is designed to help children learn about the train, Cuyahoga Valley National Park and to encourage summer reading.
On board, children and parents will have the opportunity to hear from CVSR trainmen and meet a librarian/bookshop owner to learn about how to search for their favorite books, listen to a short story, participate in a hands-on craft and search for wildlife in a scavenger hunt.
Small snacks and juice will be served.
The train will depart at 9 a.m. from Rockside Station and 10:50 a.m. from Akron Northside Station. The ride is a three-hour trip.
