CVSR Volunteer Receives CVNP’s 2016 Safety Award
Congratulations to Mary Stewart, a CVSR volunteer, on being named the recipient of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s (CVNP) 2016 Safety Award. The CVNP Safety Advisory Council recognizes individuals that have made significant safety contributions each year.
Mary Stewart went above and beyond in planning and implementing key safety initiatives at CVSR. She served as Chair of the CVSR Fire Extinguisher Committee and has been a driving force in assuring readiness of CVSR’s fire extinguishers. Under Mary’s leadership, the team was able to install the appropriate number of extinguishers at Fitzwater train yard, our stations and on the train. In addition, she was involved in implementing a regular inspection schedule of all CVSR fire extinguishers. Mary created and continues to maintain a database of fire extinguishers to be able to track and service them more efficiently.
Mary has been a volunteer of CVSR since June 2013. She serves as a trainmen and a regular steward on the St Lucie Sound car. She was recently recognized for 3,000 hours of service! We congratulate Mary on this well-deserved award and thank all volunteers involved in the Fire Extinguisher Committee.
