Fall Beer Tasting Events

Kick back with your friends, family or a loved one aboard Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad’s premier beer tasting excursions, Ales on Rails™. While on board this two-hour excursion, you will sample five to six different beers, giving you a chance to try a variety. Each passenger will receive five light appetizers catered by Moe’s, including pasta salad, chips and dip, a sandwich, desert and more! Passengers will also receive a commemorative beer glass! With different beer tasting themes throughout the fall, there’s sure to be something for everyone! See below for our fall beer tasting dates.

Goose Island | August 18

House of LaRose presents five beers from Goose Island! Beers include Goose IPA, 312 Urban Wheat, Midway IPA, Old Man Grumpy Dry Hop Pale Ale, and Oktoberfest. Train departs at 7:30 p.m. from Rockside Station, event concludes at 9:30 p.m.

Breckenridge Brews | September, 8

House of LaRose presents five beers from Breckenridge! Beers include Hop Peak IPA, Vanilla Porter, Avalanche Amber Ale, Mango Mosaic Pale Ale, Agave Wheat. Train departs at 7:30 p.m. from Akron Northside Station, event concludes at 9:30 p.m.

BrewDog USA | October 13

Climb aboard and enjoy five beers from BrewDog! Beers include Punk IPA, Hazy Jane, Lost Lager, Jet Black Heart, Native Son and more for a total of six beers. Train departs at 7:30 p.m. from Rockside Station, event concludes at 9:30 p.m.

Germany v. Belgium | October, 20

Both claim to be the best, but at the end of the night you’ll have to decide for yourself whether Belgium or Germany reigns supreme. Beers include Erdinger Hefe Weizen, Butburger Original, Orval Trapist, Westmalle Souble, Paulaner Salvator’s Double Bock, and Hofbrau Oktoberfest. Train departs at 7:30 p.m. from Rockside Station, event concludes at 9:30 p.m.

Holiday Brews

Climb aboard for a two-hour afternoon train ride through the National Park while you enjoy six beer selections and light appetizers! Train departs at 2 p.m. from Rockside Station, event concludes at 4 p.m.

Ales on Rails™ is only for passengers ages 21+. Passengers without a valid ID will not be permitted to board. Passengers may purchase other beverages and snacks form the concession car at an additional cost. We accept cash and credit cards except American Express. Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) is a tourist excursion railway and private sector, nonprofit 501(c)3 organization operating in partnership with Cuyahoga Valley National Park. CVSR is located in Northeast, Ohio and runs through 33,000 acres of land that is part of the National Park System. The train travels from stations in Independence, OH to Akron, OH.

Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad offers a variety of excursions year round. Climb aboard for scenic tours, dining programs, beer and wine tastings, family entertainment and more! The train offers an excellent view of the natural scenery and wildlife of the national park.
