8 Train Rides Mom Will Love

Mothers everywhere work hard to raise their children to be the very best version of themselves through countless acts of selflessness. One day a year isn’t enough time to recognize all that moms do, but it’s a day to take the opportunity to express our admiration and appreciation.

We planned train rides specifically for Mother’s Day weekend to help you celebrate mom the best possible way. Whether it’s your mother, grandmother, aunt, godmother, or a positive role-model in your life, it’s a weekend not only to say thank you but to show them your gratitude. Here are eight fun train rides to celebrate Mother’s Day the right way:

1. Mother’s Day Breakfast

Enjoy a three-course breakfast with mom as you ride through Cuyahoga Valley! Join us for a two-hour train ride and three-course breakfast (menu listed below). 2. Drinks with Mom

Toast to mom and show her your appreciation this Mother’s Day! We invite you to climb aboard this two-hour train ride to enjoy a complimentary alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage (your choice from a selection) and light appetizers. This excursion departs from Peninsula Depot at 1:55 p.m. on May 11. Seating in a table car. Tickets are $40 per person. This ride is only for passengers ages 21 and older. Click here to book.

3. Mother’s Day Truffle Making

Enjoy a ride in the California Zephyr cars while making yummy chocolate truffles! Passengers choose from Kahlua, Bailey’s, Red Wine or White Wine truffle flavor. Guests are also served two glasses of wine and light appetizers. The best part? Guests make a box of truffles to take home!Instruction provided by The Bom Parties. This excursion departs from Akron Northside Station at 11:30 a.m. on May 11 and from Rockside Station at 1:45 p.m. on May 12. 4. Grape Escape: Mother’s Day Moscatos

Treat mom to an evening of wine tasting! Aboard this two-hour ride you’ll sample five Moscato wines paired with appetizers. Guests even get to take home a commemorative tasting glass! This excursion departs from Rockside Station at 7:30 p.m. on May 11. Seating options include: private suites, upper dome, first class, table car or coach. 5. Muffins with Mom

Surprise mom with a relaxing afternoon train ride where you’ll be seated in the Silver Bronco or St. Lucie and served a ‘mega’ muffin. Guests get a choice between three different muffins (menu below) and are served coffee, water or juice. This ride is open to all ages so bring the whole family aboard the train! This excursion departs from Rockside Station at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on May 11 and 12. There are also departures from Akron Northside Station at 10:50 a.m. on May 11 and 12. 6. Mother’s Day Lunch

Show mom how much she means to you with a three-course lunch aboard the train! Passengers are served a salad, choice of main course (see menu below), a dessert and coffee, tea or water. A child’s meal of chicken tenders is also available. This excursion departs from Akron Northside Station at 11:30 a.m. on May 11, Peninsula Depot at 11:40 a.m. on May 12 and Rockside Station at 1:45 p.m. on May 12. Very Berry Salad. Mixed greens, dried fruit (blueberries, cherries, cranberries, raisins), red onions, goat cheese, balsamic dressing.
Main course (your choice):
- Norwegian Salmon. Lemon cream Beurre Blanc sauce with Italian cous cous and green beans.
- Korean Short Ribs. Soy ginger glazed with vegetable fried rice and green beans.
- Tri-Colored Tortellini (vegetarian). Sundried tomato pesto, zucchini, squash, mushrooms, artichokes, topped with feta cheese

7. National Park Scenic, Mom’s Ride Free, presented by Countertop Solutions

You heard that right! Mom’s ride free on the National Park Scenic excursion on May 10 – 12. For every one paid coach ticket, one coach ticket is free. Choose the Free Mom Coach Pass when choosing tickets. The National park Scenic excursion is the best way to see Cuyahoga Valley National Park from a unique vantage point. Join us for this special two-hour, non-stop train ride dubbed the ‘Mother’s Day Flyer’. Aboard this ride you’ll see the length of Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the scenery it has to offer.
