Four Ways to Treat Mom for Mother's Day

One day a year isn’t enough time to recognize all that mothers do, but it’s a day to take the opportunity to express our admiration and appreciation.

We planned train rides specifically for Mother’s Day weekend to help you celebrate mom the best possible way. Whether it’s your mother, grandmother or a positive role model in your life, it’s a weekend not only to say thank you but to show them your gratitude.

While it’s challenging to come up with a gift to fully express your feelings and gratitude towards them, here are four fun train rides to celebrate Mother’s Day the right way:

National Park Scenic, Mother’s Day Ride, presented by Countertop Solutions

As with most things, COVID-19 has impacted train rides including our annual Mom’s Ride Free event. While this year might look a little different, we still want to celebrate the Moms out there.

The National Park Scenic excursion is the best way to see Cuyahoga Valley National Park from a one-of-a-kind vantage point. Treat Mom to a relaxing scenic train ride on Sunday, May 9, and Mom will receive a gift card to be used on a future Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad excursion.

The train ride lasts 3.5 hours, and passengers can board at Rockside, Peninsula or Akron Northside Stations. Departure times vary, view the train schedule here.

Muffins with Mom

Maybe your little one isn’t old enough to gift you that perfect gift quite yet – no problem! Our Muffins with Mom event is great for the whole family and to spend that one-on-one time with your

favorites as you climb on board for this one-and-a-half-hour trip as we celebrate Mother’s Day Weekend! As you ride the rails through the National Park, enjoy a delicious muffin along with complimentary coffee, water, or juice.

This excursion departs from Peninsula Station on Saturday, May 8 and Sunday, May 9 at 9:45 a.m. and 1:55 p.m.

Dinner on the Train

Show mom how much she means to you with a four-course dinner aboard the train! Enjoy a ride in the historic California Zephyr cars while you and Mom dine on chef-prepared cuisine as the Cuyahoga Valley National Park rolls by.

This excursion departs from Rockside Station at 6:30 p.m. on May 7. You can view the menu here. This ride is only for passengers ages 21 and older.

Grape Escape with Gervasi

Treat mom to an evening of wine tasting! Aboard this two-hour ride, you’ll receive wine samples from local-favorite, Gervasi Vineyard. Guests enjoy four samples of wine with appetizers and even get to take home a commemorative tasting glass.

This excursion departs from Rockside Station at 6:30 p.m. on May 7. This ride is only for passengers ages 21 and older.
