As a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, we are doing our best to navigate this complicated and rapidly changing global situation. We continue to remain fully committed to our mission, which has brought people together since 1972.
CVSR is taking proactive measures to ensure that we protect the educational, recreational, and heritage railroad experiences for future generations in our community. Due to that commitment, we believe it is imperative to be transparent and open during this time. Our Annual Fund provides the organization with much needed operating support.
To ensure we are prepared to reopen when it is deemed safe to do so, we are asking you to stand with us at this time. Due to the cancellations, a large portion of the income it takes to run our aging fleet will be lost. We estimate right now that we will lose more than $2 million in revenue in 2020 due to the Covid-19 outbreak. As a result, we’ve had to furlough more than half of our full-time employees and all of our part-time employees.
We understand that many are faced with financial uncertainty at this moment. If you are unable to give, we understand. At your convenience, we would appreciate your support to help us preserve our organization. We are continually grateful of the support – at any level – that we receive.
Thank you for the consideration at this critical time. We look forward to reopening the train and getting our locomotives running again for you!
