CVSR Announces New Maiden Excursion for Steam in the Valley

Steam in the Valley

CVSR welcomes back the historic Nickel Plate 765 Steam Locomotive, one of the largest operating steam locomotives in the United States, to the Cuyahoga Valley September 16-17 and 23-24, 2017.  Passengers will enjoy two-hour round trip rides departing from Rockside and Akron Northside Stations throughout the weekend.  Each excursion offers the opportunity to de-board the train at a secure location for an exclusive run-by of the locomotive in action for photos.

Maiden Excursion

New this year, a Maiden Sunset Excursion will be offered to kick off Steam in the Valley. Held on Friday, September 15, departing from the Rockside Station at 5:30 p.m. and exclusive to CVSR members and volunteers only, the evening will travel back in time to bring the 40’s and its iconic steam locomotive back to life.  On board, guests will enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres, cash bar service, live entertainment from the period and more. The excursion will stop for a brief de-boarding for a sunset view and up-close run-by of the locomotive.

Purchasing Tickets

Tickets for the Maiden Excursion will go on sale on June 9 to members and volunteers only.  For more information about CVSR memberships or to join, please visit CVSR Members.

All other Steam in the Valley Excursions will be available for sale to the general public starting June 16. Tickets will start at $25 and are available in coach, open air seating, first-class and executive seating.
