CVSR Names New President/CEO

Larrystevenosn2

The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Larry Stevenson as the new President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective September 3, 2024. Stevenson succeeds Joe Mazur, who is retiring after seven years of service.

Larry Stevenson joins CVSR with an impressive background in rail management and executive leadership. Most recently, he served as CEO of the Island Corridor Foundation, a nonprofit organization in Vancouver, Canada. In this role, Stevenson was responsible for the strategy, planning, and day-to-day management of a 180-mile rail corridor. His leadership was instrumental in revitalizing the organization and securing its relevance and standing with stakeholders, the public, and government entities.

With over 10 years of executive-level experience and 20 years of rail industry expertise, Stevenson is well-equipped to lead CVSR into its next chapter. His experience in fostering strong relationships with stakeholder groups including community partners, volunteers, and government agencies aligns perfectly with CVSR’s mission to provide educational, recreational, and heritage railroad experiences.

In reflecting on his decision to accept this new leadership role, Stevenson said, "The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad holds a special place in the community and I am deeply honored to have been chosen as its next CEO. I am excited to lead such a talented team of dedicated professionals and volunteers as we embark on the next chapter of our journey.  Together, I am confident we will achieve great things and build on the strong foundation that has been established.”

Stevenson comes to the CVSR from Vancouver Island, British Columbia and holds an MBA from Queens University-Canada, His appointment marks an exciting new era for CVSR as the organization continues to enhance the passenger experience, expand its offerings, and contribute to the economic and cultural vitality of the Cuyahoga Valley and the surrounding regions.
