Plan Your Own Adventure
There are tons of things to do and see along our 26 miles of track through Northeast Ohio. Click on the link below to discover some of our favorites.
A journey through Ohio's wild side!
Wind through breathtaking forests, spot native wildlife, and feel the pulse of the Cuyahoga Valley. Then watch the landscape shift toward Cleveland, where the train rolls until nature meets skyline. It's more than just a railroad excursion—it's an iconic Northeast Ohio day trip waiting to be discovered.
Guests can choose from two ride options to best fit their schedules and interests:
The Classic 24-mile, round-trip scenic train ride departs from either the Rockside Depot in Independence or the Akron Northside Depot located on Ridge Street in downtown Akron, and lasts approximately 4 hours and 15 minutes. This leisurely railroad excursion offers ample time to relax, connect with loved ones, and take in the ever-changing landscape as the train travels through forests, open meadows, and alongside the winding Cuyahoga River. Guests with Coach seating may ride all day and hop on and off at designated stations along the route in Valley View, Brecksville, and Peninsula.
Throughout the trip, you'll have opportunities to seamlessly connect to the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, explore the Boston Mill Visitor Center, or hike to the spectacular Brandywine Falls in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It's also the perfect opportunity to grab a bite to eat at nearby local favorites, like the Winking Lizard Tavern or Fisher’s Café in Peninsula. Be sure to review the train schedule carefully to plan your stops and return trip.
For guests seeking a shorter adventure travel experience, our Express rides depart from the Peninsula Depot and travel round trip either north to Independence Rockside Depot and back or south to Akron Northside Depot and back. These rides last approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes, making them some of the best family-friendly activities for families with small children, first-time riders, or guests with limited time who still want to experience the magic of the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad.
The Café Car is available on all rides, offering guests the opportunity to purchase a selection of snacks, soft drinks, beer, wine, and unique souvenirs to enhance their journey. Whether you’re enjoying a light refreshment or picking up a keepsake to remember your trip, the Café Car adds an extra layer of comfort and convenience to your rail experience.
A variety of seating options are available. Wheelchair accessible seating is available in the Karen C. Cooper car. Call 234-759-0092 for more information and to purchase tickets for this car.
