Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad Attains International Presence in Paris
The carved linoleum bar murals in the Saint Lucie Sound and Silver Solarium were created by French artist Pierre Bourdelle and were restored by CVSR volunteers – combined hours of restoration work for both murals totaled 1,745 hours.
The Bourdelle Museum in Paris showcases Pierre’s father’s works of art, renowned sculptor Antoine Bourdelle. On May 11, 2022, volunteers Kathy Eitel and Carol Schroeder presented a plaque to the Museum honoring Pierre’s work in our train cars. Pierre’s son, Peter, joined the event via Skype.
We are thrilled to have the restorations completed, as our late founder Siegfried Buerling was the driving force behind both projects. CVSR’s honoring Pierre at his family’s Museum now brings it all full circle.
