LUNCH ON WHEELS
Looking for an easy to moderate bike ride, with a delicious local lunch stop? Use this guide to plan a day trip with a ride aboard CVSR!
Use CVSR Explorer to book this one-way ride! Tickets can be purchased on the train.
- Park at Rockside Station, and set out on your ride on the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail headed south.
- Bike to Peninsula (14.2 miles) or Akron Northside Station (27.5 miles), and enjoy lunch at your stop!
- Peninsula: Winking Lizard or Fischer’s
- Akron Northside: Luigi’s or Lock 15
- Return to Rockside Station on the train from the 3:00 PM departure from Akron Northside Station, or 11:50 AM or 3:50 PM from Peninsula Station.

HIKE TO THE WATERFALL
Looking for a hike in the National Park to the beautiful Brandywine Falls? Use this guide to plan a day trip with a ride aboard CVSR!
For this round-trip ride, book tickets for National Park Scenic. Purchase online in advance, or at Rockside Station, Peninsula Depot, or Akron Northside Station.
- Board the train at Rockside, Peninsula or Akron Northside Stations, and ride to Boston Mill Station.
- Depart the train, and hike north from the station on the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail for half a mile, and then make a right onto the trail connector to Stanford Trailhead.
- Take the Stanford Trail, a 1.5-mile woodland trail that leads to Brandywine Falls. With steep hills and unpaved, potentially muddy surfaces, this moderate hike will take you directly to the waterfall for a refreshing break!
- Return via the same trail for around a 5 mile loop total, back to Boston Mill Station to hop aboard the train and return to your original station.

RIDE, READ & RELAX
Looking for a low-key day just for you or your closest friends? Use this guide to plan a day trip with a ride aboard CVSR!
For this round-trip ride, book tickets for National Park Scenic. Purchase online in advance, or at Rockside Station, Peninsula Depot, or Akron Northside Station.
- Depart from Rockside Station at 9 AM, and ride the train to Peninsula Station.
- Walk a short distance to enjoy a cup of coffee at Peninsula Coffee House (.2 miles, or about a 6 minute walk). Sip your brew out on their riverside patio with a good book, then head over to the River Light Gallery, Trail Mix Peninsula or Peninsula Art Academy for a little shopping.
- Continue your ride when the train departs Peninsula Station again at 11:50, and return to Rockside Station.
- Enjoy lunch at Yours Truly Rockside or LockKeepers across the street from Rockside Depot or grab a sweet treat at Malley's Chocolates to cap off your recharge aboard the train!

FAMILY-FRIENDLY FARM AFTERNOON
Looking for a family-frendly outing to a classic local farmer’s market? Use this guide to plan a day trip with a ride aboard CVSR!
For this round-trip ride, book tickets for National Park Scenic. Purchase online in advance, or at Rockside Station, Peninsula Depot, or Akron Northside Station.
- Depart from Rockside, Peninsula, or Akron Northside Stations, and ride the train to Indigo Lake Station.
- Take a short hike north on the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail (.7 miles, or about a 16 minute walk) to Szalay’s Farm Market. You will cross Riverview Road at the Towpath Crossing.
- Enjoy lemonade, fruits, vegetables, snacks and baked goods. On the weekends, enjoy food stalls with fresh corn on the cob, sausage sandwiches and ice cream! In season, take in live music or a haunted maze. Check Szalay’s schedule for more details!
- Walk back to Indigo Lake Station to return to your starting station, or continue your hike northward along the towpath (3.2 miles, or a little longer than an hour hike) to return via Peninsula Station.
- Bonus Excursion: From May to October on Saturday mornings, start your day early with a ride to Indigo Lake Station and take a short hike around the lake to Howe Meadow for the Cuyahoga Valley Farmers Market from 9 AM -12 PM.
